GULFO DULCE, SOUTHERN COSTA RICA
![]() Pavones Beach is synonymous with SURF!!! Best known among surfers as the place with the “longest left break,” Pavones is a semi-open bay featuring great waves all year long. It’s out of the way location – almost 2 hours from Golfito- make it a hide-a-way for the dedicated. But surf isn’t all this little town has to offer. It’s located in the middle of some of the most exuberant rain forest in the country and inhabited by fun, friendly people. Many large and beautiful pieces of virgin land, fantastic old farms and smaller lots split from the original farms offer wonderful places to construct your dream home or tourist retreat. Water front, hillsides with views or jungle reserves. A variety of dream projects from surf bungalows to luxury homes are popping up each new season. ZANCUDO beach offers a personality all it's own with "Laid Back" being key words to describe this charming community. It’s fine gray sands, abundance of green foliage and gentle blue waves make it one of the countries most colorful and quaint beach playgrounds. With an estuary behind feeding into both a river and the sea, it offers residents and tourists a variety of fun including sport fishing, kayaking, river cruises, beachcombing and surfing. Charming restaurants, bars and lodging are sprinkled down the beach road and many ex-patriots have made their “home away from home” here amongst the like minded. The road in has enabled municipal services of electricity and water to serve the area, but most residents find it more convenient to come and go to nearby Golfito via taxi boat or their personal launch. |
Golfito A Bay With-in a Bay, you will find no finer yacht anchorage in the tropics than Golfito. Homes of boat enthusiasts and marina development plans are catching on like wildfire on the shores of this area. Set against an awesome backdrop of lush green jungle with natural clearings and plateaus along the shore, ideas for low impact development are limitless. Calm waters with good anchor holding and pier sites plus the convenience of town just minutes away across the bay make this waterfront zone very desirable - Both commercially and for private homes. The jungles behind are full of birds, animals, tropical fruits, trails and an abundance of pre-Columbian history as this bay was home to one of Costa Rica's Indigenous fishing communities. Self generated power and natural water supplies must fill the needs of these properties as they are beyond the reach of town-folks public services. Puerto Jimenez |
